October - December (Awareness):

8 weeks to more social awareness

This module is all about helping our kids connect with others. New students often have a difficult time engaging in conversations about things other than what they know or are interested in.

The first half is about noticing things in general and the second half is about noticing things about people we know in order to help us form better connections and have more engaging conversations. This module gives students the understanding and the tools they need to notice things about other people and to use what they notice to create deeper relationships!

1. How to make a different choice when things don't go as expected

2. Inferencing (What do things actually mean?)

3. Interpreting nonverbal signals during conversations

4. Analyzing humor feedback

5. Noticing others' interests, hobbies, and preferred topics of conversation

6. Recognizing what we have in common with others based on what we remember about them

7. Using our social memory to have meaningful, personal conversations

8. Generating gift ideas using our social memory

How does the program work?

Students attend an hour of direct lesson time and an hour of game time each week.

Parents receive an email each week with information on the topic we are covering that week, why it's important for our students to learn, and how you can support the concept at home!
